These Hawaiian pineapple mini skewers are an easy appetizer with all the flavors of a Hawaiian pizza. They are whipped up in minutes and are sure to please the crowd.
Why you will love Hawaiian pineapple mini skewers
These skewers are a perfectly blended mix of sweet and savory flavors and are incredibly easy to make. The combination of pineapple, prosciutto, and mozzarella cheese tastes like a bite of Hawaiian pizza and is good with or without a glaze.

To make these appetizers, you will need:
- Toothpicks or small appetizer skewers
- small mozzarella balls
- pineapple chunks
- prosciutto or ham slices
- hand-help kitchen torch (optional)
- serving tray
How to make Hawaiian pineapple mini skewers
This recipe is made by simply placing bite-sized chunks of pineapple, prosciutto, and mozzarella cheese onto a tiny toothpick. These appetizers are good as is, but giving them a quick char with a hand-held kitchen torch will amplify the flavors. Serve with a balsamic vinegar dipping sauce for even more flavor.
Recipe substitutions
- Pineapple: This recipe is best with freshly sliced pineapple. You can use canned pineapple. If you choose canned or jarred pineapple, drain and dry off any excess liquid, and cut into small cubes.
- Prosciutto: Prosciutto is a dry-aged ham that mimics the Canadian bacon typically used on Hawaiian pizza. You can substitute it with any other type of ham.
- Mozzarella: Any mozzarella cheese will work if cut into bite-sized chunks.
- Toothpicks: Toothpicks are the easiest since most people already have them on hand. Any small appetizer skewer will work.
- The char: If you don’t have a small hand-held kitchen torch, you can place them in the oven or grill at a high heat of at least 400 degrees F. for just a few minutes. If you choose these methods, dampen the toothpicks before assembling to prevent fire, and add the cheese last to prevent melting.
How to serve this appetizer recipe
These appetizers are perfect for serving alongside any barbecue grilled chicken or pork, and would also taste delicious along with sweet rolls. Make sure to keep these appetizers chilled until serving. They should not be left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If serving on a hot day, using a chilled serving tray is ideal.
How to store these mini skewers
Keep these prepared skewers refrigerated until ready to serve. Any leftover skewers can be stored airtight in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
